Children & Families Forum

A busy meeting of the Children and Families forum was held this week. Several new organisations were present at the forum which exists to support third sector organisations working with Children and Families in the Stirling area. The agenda included information on the Carers Scotland Act, led by Stirling Carers Centre, and a discussion item on the Scottish Government consultation on the Best Start Grant draft regulation.

A key part of every forum meeting is a contribution from a third sector organisation on their work. This time it was Central Advocacy Partners who shared their excellent work with the forum. Central Advocacy Partners run a new project called Survivors Advocacy Project which helps survivors of domestic abuse to receive support and have their views heard. Central Advocacy Partners offer help by listening and supporting vulnerable adults who have experienced domestic abuse to have access to information, understand their rights and choices and learn to recognise abuse.

Forum members also shared information on new services for Children and Families including a new service called Functional Family Therapy with Action for Children, bereavement Counselling with Relationship Scotland and Play therapy with the Family Life Centre.

The next forum will take place on the 9th of August from 10am-12pm at the Family Life Centre, 67 Murray Place, Stirling. If you would like to join the Children & Families Forum, or would like further information, please contact Roxanna on
