SVE Chief Executive Volunteers Week 2021 Roundup

Wow, what a week! Volunteers’ Week 2021 was about showing gratitude to the thousands of people in Stirling who have helped out during the pandemic. Over the past year we saw incredible commitment to volunteering with people dedicating their time selflessly to help those most impacted by the pandemic. We also witnessed the huge impact that is made by hundreds of small, individual action- like checking on a neighbour, walking someone’s dog or shopping for a shielded person.

Over the past week we have shared volunteering stories to give these incredible volunteers the recognition they deserve, and hopefully inspire others to get involved too. Volunteers’ stories featured on our social media and website, in the Stirling Observer, and Central FM. Thanks to the Thistle Shopping Centre you can visit our Community Gallery that displays volunteer photos and quotes for the next few weeks.

Volunteers’ Week was particularly important for us this year as we launched Stirling’s Volunteer Portal on the first day of Volunteers’ Week, the one stop shop for people looking for volunteering opportunities in Stirling. Less than one week after the launch, the portal is already having a big impact with local people quickly finding and applying for some of the brilliant volunteering opportunities. Online recognition badges for 0, 5, 50, 250, 500 and 750 hours volunteered will encourage volunteers to track the skills and experiences they gained through volunteering.

Volunteers’ Week might be nearly over, but our work supporting volunteers and organisations goes on 365 days a year. If you would like to share your volunteering story, need support to volunteer, or you are an organisation needing help, get in touch at
