SVE Thematic Third Sector Calls

Thank you to those who attended the recent third sector thematic Zoom calls which have been held over the last fortnight. In total over 70 organisations have taken part and we have had some fantastic networking and discussions. We will make all the notes and recording available on this page once they are finalised along with the date of any followup meetings which are planned.

Children & Families 

SVE facilitated a Children and Families Zoom Call Meeting on May the 7th from 11am-12pm. The meeting was hosted by Rachel Johnston, Development and Engagement Coordinator, with support from other SVE staff. The aim of the meeting was to join together third sector organisations who work with and for children, young people and families in the Stirlingshire area to try and establish what work is currently going on in the area, where there may be capacity issues and what the current concerns are.

Approximately 30 organisations joined the call and were keen to share the issues and challenges they had been facing, as well as well as highlighting the great work that had been going on in the face of such adversity. There was some fantastic, rich conversation and a real sense of connectivity.

Some of the issues discussed were

  1. What is currently happening in this area
  • Who is operating?
  • What services are running?
  • Where are the gaps e.g. capacity issues?
  1. Sharing best practice
  • What is working?
  • What is not?
  • What support is needed?
  1. Feedback/Concerns

Tackling Poverty

SVE facilitated a Tackling Poverty Zoom Call Meeting on May the 12th from 11am-12pm. The meeting was hosted by Denise Kelly, Development and Engagement Coordinator, with support from other SVE staff. The aim of the meeting was to join together third sector organisations who  work with and for individuals and families facing poverty and debt concerns within the Stirling area, providing immediate help, debt advice and employability support to try and establish what work is currently going on in the area, where there may be capacity issues and what the current concerns are.

Approximately 16 organisations joined the call and were keen to share the issues and challenges they had been facing, as well as well as highlighting the great work that had been going on in the face of such adversity. There was some fantastic, rich conversation and a real sense of connectivity.

Food & Essential Support 

SVE facilitated a Food and Essential Supplies Zoom Call Meeting on May the 14th from 11am -12pm. The meeting was hosted by Lee Stevenson, Organisational Support Officer, with support from other SVE colleagues. This community call was an opportunity to bring together local organisations and individuals to network, find out more about what is currently happening within the Stirling Council area, share knowledge, challenges and to find out what support was still needed.

Approximately 22 organisations joined the call, all keen to share the positive work they were involved in and discuss the challenges they were facing. There was some great work highlighted, strong connections made and the meeting ended on a positive note about the future in terms of local organisations continuing to work together after lockdown.

Some of the questions covered included -

  • Who is operating in the Wards and what services are you providing?
  • What have we learned from the support provided in the seven Ward areas?What opportunities have emerged?
  • What have the challenges been?
  • Is there still support needed that is not being offered currently?
  • What are the positives that have come out of this experience?
