Migrants and their families are disproportionately affected by financial disadvantage and their children experience particularly high rates of child poverty. Research suggests this is caused by a range of intersecting issues from legal structures around access to benefits; language barriers; and a lack of connection between specialist and mainstream support services.

Migration Policy Scotland has been working with migrants, community organisations and public services to develop a set of practical tools to help address this.

• Guides to support communication with people for whom English is a second language
• Local Service Needs Maps suited to Migrants Needs
• Guidance on Financial Health Checks for Migrant Service Users
• Migrant-led training on Intercultural Communication
• Participants will also get to hear direct from individuals, areas and organisations who are developing or already using these tools.

This session will be led by Migration Policy Scotland with contributions from Citizens Advice Edinburgh, Passion4Fusion and others.
