Update: Changes to PVG Legislation and Upcoming Information Sessions
Changes to PVG legislation introduced in April 2025 have amended who requires to be checked and the criteria that determine when individuals fall within the scope of the PVG scheme.
To support organisations and volunteers in understanding these changes, Volunteer Scotland Disclosure Services (VSDS), in partnership with SVE, will be delivering a series of online information sessions later in the year. Each session will last approximately one hour and will begin with an overview of the updated requirements.
What will be covered?
- How to access PVG checks
- How to receive and understand PVG results
- Who requires to be checked under the updated legislation
- Who can view disclosure information
- Whether a PVG check with one organisation covers volunteering across multiple groups
The session will be followed by a Q&A. This will provide an opportunity to ask any questions relating to the disclosure process. Questions do not have to be limited to the topics above, any queries regarding PVG will be welcomed, and we will do our best to answer them.
Updated Guidance
The disclosure scheme guidance was updated by Disclosure Scotland in December 2025, with a further minor update in May 2026. VSDS is keen to share this updated information widely to ensure organisations are fully compliant with requirements around who needs to be checked.
