Fallin Community Voice Supporter Celebrates Cash Win on Stirling Community Lottery

The Stirling Community Lottery is well into its second year of operation and so far has raised over £30,000 for local good causes.

This innovative initiative, managed by Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise, aims to strengthen the local community and provide vital funding for a wide range of causes, from local charities and sports clubs to community projects and social enterprises. It’s free for organisations to join and provides an entirely digital way of raising funds, as well as allowing community members to support local good causes of their choosing all while being in with the chance of winning cash prizes!

Recently the lottery celebrated a £250 win from a supporter of Fallin Community Voice, a membership-based charity which aims to help improve the lives of people living and working in Fallin. Despite only forming in January 2022, Fallin Community Voice have gone from strength to strength to host Bingo Nights, Easter and Summer Fun Days and even a Christmas Lights Switch on! They have formed strong partnerships with local organisations such as the Community Council to host weekly Grub Hub Nights. They are also currently working hard to make local residents dreams of having a community garden a reality. Fallin Community Voice joined the Stirling Community Lottery earlier this year and have already smashed their fundraising target.

Chair Neil Taylor said

‘I set up the lottery to bring in additional unrestricted funds for the Charity as well as raise its profile. The money raised will go towards the on going Christmas Lights costs as well as the day to day running of the charity, it really gives us a great funding stream as well as some community involvement in terms of helping out and a chance of winning some money. Indeed the £250 winner was great for one of our supporters!’

Local Fallin resident Gillian was the lucky winner of the £250 cash prize, after she became aware of the lottery and decided to become a supporter of Fallin Community Voice, as she liked the idea that the money raised stays within the local community.

Gillian says,

‘I noticed there had been some local winners so I thought I would check my emails to see if I'd had any luck. I noticed I had won a cash prize so logged into my account thinking I'd probably have won £25. I completely missed the part of the email saying I had won £250. I was so stunned. It was the night before I travelled to Glasgow for Elton John after waiting 5 years from ticket purchase so it was the start of a great weekend for me!’

Gillian grew up in the area attending the local primary school but then moved away. She has now returned to Fallin but due to work commitments finds it hard to always have time to integrate into the community so the lottery offers her a way to show support.

‘I'd definitely say to anyone thinking of playing its worth it. Its a good feeling to support a good local cause with the money raised supporting the local community as well as raising funds for some great charities. It's quite affordable too even in this financial climate.’
