SVE Welcomes Dr Kainde Manji as New Deputy CEO

We are thrilled to announce that Dr Kainde Manji will be joining SVE as our new Deputy CEO in August 2024. Kainde will collaborate closely with our dedicated team, including Anne Knox, our current Deputy CEO, who will be retiring later this year.

Understanding the importance of this role to our member organisations and partners, we are committed to ensuring Kainde meets as many people as possible during her first few months.

Kainde joins us from Age Scotland, where she served as Head of Dementia. In this role, she guided the strategic direction and delivery of their work on dementia, ensuring the voices of those affected were reflected in policy and practice. Under her leadership, Age Scotland pioneered new approaches to participatory grant making. Previously, she managed the About Dementia project at Age Scotland.

With an impressive background in third sector leadership and academic research, Kainde is known for combining these experiences to make tangible changes in people’s lives. She completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow, researching the impacts of disability benefit reforms on disabled people in Scotland. Additionally, she spent three years at the University of Stirling researching dementia and neighbourhoods.

Kainde’s strong commitment to the third sector is demonstrated through her roles at NUS Scotland and Close the Gap, as well as trustee positions with several local and national charities. Having lived half her life in Stirling, she is devoted to the city, towns, and villages that make up our area, having seen firsthand the amazing work of the charities, social enterprises, and voluntary groups that SVE is proud to support.

Kainde expressed her excitement about joining SVE: “I am honoured to take on the role of Deputy CEO at SVE. I look forward to working with our dedicated team and partners to continue making a positive impact in our communities.”

We are excited to welcome Kainde to SVE and look forward to the new opportunities that she is sure to bring to our organisation and membership. We will be sharing more news in Autumn about our plans to celebrate Anne's well-deserved retirement and honour her contribution to SVE and the sector in Stirling.
