A Practical Full Day in Person Workshop

Cost: £25

Charities and community organisations are under more pressure than ever, limited time, limited resources, and rising expectations from funders, volunteers, and the people they support. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help ease that pressure, offering practical ways to save time, improve communication, and strengthen impact. This new technology does carry risks, and it’s important that people are aware of them and take steps to manage them effectively.

This full day, hands on workshop is designed specifically for the third sector. It cuts through the jargon and hype to focus on what really matters: simple, safe, effective ways to use AI in everyday charity work. This session is best suited to people who already have some knowledge of AI. For anyone with no prior knowledge who would still like to attend, we recommend joining on 12 March first.

Who Should Attend

  • Charities, community groups, and social enterprises
  • Volunteers, coordinators, managers, trustees
  • Staff working in fundraising, communications, or project delivery

This training is mainly for people who are at the early stages of using AI. Participants get the most out of the session if they’ve already tried tools like ChatGPT or Copilot. If you have no prior experience, you may want to attend STEP’s free An introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for small businesses course first.

What You’ll Learn

  • What AI is (and isn’t), explained in plain English
  • How to use tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and more
  • Writing clearer emails, reports, and funding applications
  • Summarising policies, meetings, and documents
  • Creating posts, newsletters, and simple visuals
  • Using prompts effectively and reducing repetitive admin
  • Ethics, safeguarding, and responsible AI use

What You’ll Leave With

  • Confidence to use AI safely and appropriately
  • Practical examples tailored to charity work
  • Reusable prompts and time saving techniques
  • A clearer understanding of tools that fit your role
  • A certificate of completion

Lunch is not provided, however, there is a café onsite to purchase food at lunchtime.
